VIC'S Safety, Health & Environmental Programs

Vic's Crane & Heavy Haul, Inc. finished 2008 with no lost time injuries and consistently performs above industry averages, with company EMRs (Experience Modification Rate) that remain below 1.0.

Training in Progress at VIC'S The Safety, Health and Environmental Program at VIC'S is an essential business practice that goes beyond the minimum industry standards to ensure a safe and healthy workplace. VIC'S conducts fitness-for-duty testing (Chemical Testing) for all employees, including new hires. The fitness-for-duty testing includes DOT (Federal Motor Carrier and Pipeline), refinery-required testing and other customer-specific testing. VIC'S training programs include, and are not limited to: OSHA 10 Construction Safety, MSHA, Fall Protection, Hearing Conservation, Lifting Techniques, Crane Safety, DOT Safety, Forklift Safety. Crane operators are verified by a supervisor for their competency on lifting operations, and are required to take a safe practices written exam as well as a load chart exercise. In addition, our crane operators are certified, experienced and safe. We value our most important asset: our employees.


VIC'S Safety programs include a stringent planning process used in the field. VIC'S employees use an proactive tool called the "Take 5" form. This form is used to identify and prevent possible hazards on the job-site. A site-specific safety and health plan is implemented prior to large projects. These programs cover any Federal and State rules and regulations, as well as client requirements.

VIC'S employs a full time Safety Director. The Safety Director has over 10 years experience in multiple relevant industries, as well as a degree in Occupational Safety and Environmental Health from the University of North Dakota. He is certified by the Board of Certified Safety Professionals. He also is a Nationally Registered Emergency Medical Technician with over 18 years of emergency response experience.

The staff and workforce at VIC'S are constantly trained and retrained in various subjects to ensure the Safety and Health of our employees.

VIC'S participated with two projects that received the VPP (Voluntary Protection Programs) award, which were issued in 2007-2009. For more information on VPP, see OSHA.
