Pre-Construction Services
Project Planning
Pre-Construction Design Phase
VIC'S can assist owners, architects and engineers with project planning and site arrangment drawings to clarify heavy lift and heavy haul requirements early in the project feasibility studies, as well as through the design phase. VIC'S can provide 3D models of most commercially available cranes and heavy haul/lifting equipment for incorporation into the clients' 3D project model. If required, VIC'S can also quickly model foundations and plant equipment from the clients' drawings or import a clients' PDS model into our software. These preliminary models can help identify impact concerning:
- Project general arrangement and equipment location
- Impact to construction schedules due to large crane location during equipment erection
- Project traffic and heavy haul routes
- Laydown and warehousing requirements
Individual Project/Outage Planning
VIC'S can help our clients with the planning of upcoming projects or outages by providing detailed 3D models of any proposed lifts. These models can be integrated with 3D laser scans to show exact relationships between complex plant equipment and VIC'S lifting equipment. Typical details include, and are not limited to:
- Lift plans
- Equipment location plans
- Heavy haul routes
- Potential interferance details
- Schedule
Specialized Software
All of VIC'S lift plan detail drawings can be exported to a 3D PDF format. These files can be opened by anyone with an Adobe Acrobat reader, and allow the viewer to rotate, zoom and pan around the model.

For critical lifts or applications where a large amount of detail is required, VIC'S can incorporate laser scans into any of our models. These laser scans provide a method of taking a 'digital picture' of an area. Every pixel of this scan has x, y and z coordinates georeferenced to the plant coordinates. Pipes, valves, foundations, equipment and structures can be quickly scanned into a file and incorporated into VIC'S crane plan. These scans provide a very high level of accuracy and a clear picture of where the heavy lift equipment will be in relation to plant equipment.
VIC'S engineers utilize the following variety of programs to provide the best service the industry has to offer:
- AutoCAD
- SolidWorks
- Microstation
- Navis Works
- Cloudworks
- Cyclone
- Primavera P3
- Microsoft Project
